Mikoyan Brothers Museum

We stopped here on the way from Tbilisi and were completely surprised by how well-curated this small museum is. The MiG-21 outside is an immediate draw, but the real treasure is inside: personal photographs, original documents and thoughtful displays about both brothers. The curator was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. Highly recommended if you're passing through Alaverdi.

Մենք կանգ առանք այստեղ Թբիլիսիից ճանապարհին և ամբողջությամբ զարմացանք, թե որքան լավ է կառավարված այս փոքրիկ թանգարանը: Դրսի ՄիԳ-21-ն անմիջապես գրավում է, բայց իրական գանձը ներսում է՝ անձնական լուսանկարներ, բնօրինակ փաստաթղթեր և երկու եղբայրների մասին խոհուն ցուցադրություններ: Խորհուրդ ենք տալիս, եթե անցնում եք Ալավերդով:

As someone who grew up knowing the MiG aircraft well, visiting the museum dedicated to Artem Mikoyan was deeply moving. The connection to Alaverdi and the story of how these two boys from a modest Armenian family reached the pinnacle of Soviet power is extraordinary. The exhibits are modest in size but rich in content. A must-visit.

Ինչ վերաբերում է ինձ, ով մեծացել է MiG ինքնաթիռները լավ ճանաչելով, Արտյոմ Միկոյանին նվիրված թանգարան այցելությունը խորապես հուզիչ էր: Կապը Ալավերդու հետ և պատմությունը, թե ինչպես են Հայաստանի համեստ ընտանիքի երկու տղաները հասել խորհրդային իշխանության գագաթնակետին, արտակարգ է:

The staff made us feel very welcome even though we arrived without much prior knowledge of the Mikoyan brothers. The context they provided about Anastas's political career and Artem's aviation legacy made everything click. A small museum that punches well above its weight. We left wanting to know more.

Անձնակազմը մեզ շատ ջերմ ընդունեց, թեև մենք ժամանեցինք առանց Միկոյան եղբայրների մասին մեծ նախնական գիտելիքների: Անաստասի քաղաքական կարիերայի և Արտյոմի ավիացիոն ժառանգության վերաբերյալ ապահովված համատեքստը ամեն ինչ պարզ դարձրեց: Փոքր թանգարան, որը շատ ավելի մեծ ազդեցություն ունի:

Alaverdi is already worth visiting for its copper bridge and monastery, but the Mikoyan museum adds another strong reason to stop. The MiG outside is impressive and the interior exhibits are genuinely interesting. I'd love to see English labels on more of the displays, but the visit was very worthwhile regardless.

Ալավերդին արդեն արժե այցելել իր պղնձե կամրջի և վանքի համար, բայց Միկոյանի թանգարանը ևս մեկ ուժեղ պատճառ է կանգ առնելու: Դրսի ՄիԳ-ն տպավորիչ է, ներքին ցուցանմուշները իսկապես հետաքրքիր են: Այցն արժեր:

Ես Ալավերդու բնիկ եմ, բայց այս թանգարանի բացումից հետո մի քանի անգամ եկել եմ, ամեն անգամ ընկերներ ու հարազատներ բերելով: Ամեն անգամ նոր բան եմ սովորում: Հայ լինելով՝ Միկոյան եղբայրների մասին ավելի շատ իմանալն ինձ հպարտ է դարձնում:

As a native of Alaverdi I have visited this museum several times since it opened, bringing friends and relatives each time. Every visit I learn something new. As an Armenian, learning more about the Mikoyan brothers fills me with pride.
